Zhu Gaosui (朱高燧; 1382–1431) was a Ming dynasty prince, the third son of the Yongle Emperor, and the first Prince of Zhao (趙王). Enfeoffed as Prince of Zhao in 1404, he received the posthumous name Jian (簡), and is also known as Prince Jian of Zhao (趙簡王). His birth year is given variously as 1382 or 19 January 1383; he died on 5 October 1431.

Life

In 1404, the second year of the Yongle era, he was raised from a commandery prince to Prince of Zhao and left in charge of Beijing, where the government offices submitted all business to him; relying on imperial favour, he often acted unlawfully. Hu Yongxing is listed among his subordinates. When the Yongle Emperor fell ill, Gaosui forged an imperial edict in a plot to depose the crown prince and install himself. After the Hongxi Emperor's accession in 1424 he took up his fief at Zhangde. In 1426, the first year of the Xuande era, his princely guard was taken from him.

Family

His sons included Zhu Zhanque (朱瞻塙) and Zhu Zhanba (朱瞻坺), and his grandson 朱祁𨧨; his descendants are traced down to the tenth generation.
