Zhang Yunzi was a Qing-dynasty woman writer associated with poetry and prose. Her courtesy name was Zilan, and her sobriquets were Jiangmennüshi and Taohuaxianzi.
Life and literary associations
Her great-grandfather was Zhang Dashou (1660–1723), her paternal uncle was Zhang Fengsun, and her mother was Lu Su; her husband, Ren Zhaolin, died in 1796.
Her nephew, Ren Zhang, was born in 1736 and died in 1795; her female cousin was Zhang Fen, and her husband's collateral nephew, Song Lin, was born in 1736 and died in 1795. Peng Shaoguan was her adoptive daughter.
Among her literary associations, Xu Yingyu was her student. She wrote prefaces for works by Wang Qiong, Jiang Zhu, Ren Zhaolin, Shen Xiang, Long Duo, Lu Zhen, and Cai Zhiding. She also wrote prefaces for works by Lei Chongxiao, Cai Zhiming, Zhang Xueren, and Gu Heqing, and postscripts for books by Pan Yijun, Ge Pei, and Song Lin; she additionally wrote a postscript for a book and painting by Ji Yaonan. Jiang Zhu, Shen Xiang, Long Duo, and Lu Zhen presented her with poems and prose.
