Fang Hao (1703–1754) was a Qing official. His courtesy name is given as Mengting, Menggao, or Wentao; his native place is given as Luan prefecture, Tongcheng in Anhui, or Xiuning.

Life

He became a jinshi in the eighth year of the Yongzheng reign (1730), was appointed magistrate of Taiyuan in Shanxi, and later served as magistrate of Xi and Pingding. During the Qianlong era, he successively served as county magistrate of Qi and Yangqu, prefect of Baode Directly Governed Prefecture, prefect of Puzhou, and vice surveillance commissioner on the Guangrao Jiunan Circuit.

While serving at Xi, he summoned local vegetarians known as the Dasheng teaching to his court and fed them wine and meat, for reasons no one knew. Afterward, members of the Dasheng teaching were arrested across several commanderies, while the people of Xi alone were spared. He was later promoted to the Jiangxi Ji'nan-Gan Circuit and dismissed for an offense.
