Hao Zhi (1012–1078) was a Northern Song military commander. His courtesy name was Jingchun (景純). His native place is variously given as Jiexiu (介休) and Jie prefecture in Fen prefecture (汾州介州); his posthumous title is given as 武莊, also written 武壯.

Life

He entered military service when young and served as the stationed commandant at Fuzhou. After earning merit in resisting Western Xia, he was rapidly promoted to Neidian Chengzhi and became military commissioner of the Bingdai Circuit; he took part in suppressing Wang Ze’s uprising in Beizhou and was promoted to Liuzhaishi.

When Emperor Shenzong ascended the throne in 1067, Hao Zhi was promoted to Commander of the Palace Front and transferred to Anwu. He was noted for discipline in command, frugal personal habits, and steadfastness in loyalty and trust.

Hao Zhi was recommended by 歐陽修 and also impeached by him; 李中吉 likewise recommended him.

He was married to 朱氏 and had five sons—郝惟立, 郝惟僉, 郝惟序, 郝惟幾, and 郝惟賢. His daughters included those who married 董遵, 張𦒑, 孟固, and 賈祺.
