Ou Lian (1415–1474) was a Ming dynasty jinshi. His courtesy name was Shijie; he was fifth in birth order, came from Meizhou in Sichuan, and belonged to the civilian household register.
Life
Ou Lian was born on the twenty-first day of the third month and specialized in the Spring and Autumn Classic. He entered the Shuntian Prefecture provincial examination from the National Academy as a juren ranked twenty-fifth, and passed the metropolitan examination in three-hundred-and-thirty-fourth place.
In the fifth year of the Jingtai era (1454), he passed the Jiaxu examination as a jinshi, placing forty-second in the second class at the age of forty.
Family
His great-grandfather was Ou Zusan, his grandfather Ou Junxiang, and his father Ou Bin; his mother was Lady Fei and his stepmother Lady Jin, with the designation 慈侍下; his wife was Lady Yang. His elder brothers were Ou Zhihai, Ou Zhiman, Ou Zhimin, and Ou Haishan.
