Zheng Lu (d. unknown) was a poet and literatus of the Chen dynasty. He was a native of Putian, and Houguan is also given as an earlier residence. His name is also given as Zheng Bao (鄭褒), and his courtesy name as Ensou (恩叟); a notice in the Complete Tang Poems (《全唐詩》) gives Sisou (思叟) as his courtesy name and Nanhu (南湖) as his style name.

Life

His ancestors came from Xingyang; the place is now in Henan, and they entered Fujian. One account says that, after passing through Putian and finding its local setting attractive, they moved to Nanshan. Another account places Zheng Lu and his two brothers' move from Yongtai (in present-day Fujian) to Putian in the Chen. At Nanshan, he and his brothers Zhuang and Shu built a study hall and pursued Confucian learning; the three promoted education and were known as the Three Masters of Nanhu. In the second year of Emperor Wu of Chen's Yongding era (558), he offered his residence to become Jinxian yuan (金仙院).

Office and poetic attribution

One account says that he entered Sui service and rose to the office of Taifu qing. The Complete Tang Poems includes one poem, 《徹云澗》, in a notice that gives the courtesy name Sisou, the style name Nanhu, and the office of Taifu qing; the poem is identified as a mistaken inclusion.

Descendants

His direct descendants include 鄭充, 鄭蒨, 鄭濟, 鄭亞卿, 鄭僑, and 鄭樵; 鄭樵 was born in 1104 and died in 1162.
